This is what the river looks like when the gloss medium has dried. It turned out pretty well. It looks just as good live as it does on the photo. I had also started gluing some low bushes in various locations. The little bit you see here took almost an hour, so it is going to be quite some time before it is all done.

I had originally planned to have a skinny section up against the wall where the two windows are. But as the rest of the layout is growing, I decided to redo this section as well. I stripped all of the mainline track and sub-roadbed material to get back to the core benchwork.

I simply moved the front L-girder further into the room.

I could then start to build the supports for the plans I have for this area, which are lots of water scenes.

I cut some new sub-roadbed out of the same 1/2" plywood I had used before. I also put down a sheet of plywood that will be the large river bed.

Inside the closet I wanted to have just a small storage yard. A wye would allow access to that yard and it would allow me to turn engines and short trains.

I planted a few trees we had recently bought. These are Hecki "christmas trees". It does add to the effect already.

A few more bushes have grown next to the river.
