I covered the layout area with 4-foot fluorescent lights. The fixtures were mounted into the ceiling drywall, and all were connected to a single power outlet.
My track of choice for this layout is Micro Engineering flextrack code 55 (unweathered).
This is a nice overview shot of one of the four corners. The outside mainline flextrack has been installed.
Because the mainline goes in front of the door, there had to be a duck-under. When my wife and I were visiting one of the layouts, we noticed a small duck placed on the floor under that layout's duck-under, so my wife thought that it was a neat idea for us to do with ours, so she found this duck and put it there.
The entire area by the door is going to be covered by a large mountain, so that the door is not a visual distraction of the rest of the layout. Since it is at a curve, in a corner, I started off with two sheets of plywood cut in a triangle shape, with holes to act as tunnel portals.
Here you see a top-down view.
