This page provides a collection of links to uploaded videos I have taken over the years. They are related to my layout or our Houston S Gaugers' club layout. The numbers after the link is the length of the clip in terms of minutes and seconds.
Assembling Sergent S-scale Coupler
This is a brief video that shows how I assemble a Sergent Engineering's S-scale coupler. For additional information and photos, see my web page article.
Houston S Gaugers
Houston S Gaugers Layout Farm Scene
Taken at a low angle, this scene shows the farm scene (done by Ria), with a passenger train and a freight train passing each other on the double main line. This was recorded at the Big Texas Train Show in Houston, Texas in October 2011.
Houston S Gaugers Layout Freight Crossing
A freight train is passing over a junction/crossing on our club layout.
Houston S Gaugers' Freight and Passenger Trains
Taken at the Mall of the Mainline show in Texas City, Texas, this video taken on our club layout shows a freight train and a passenger train passing each other.
Houston S Gaugers' Largest Layout
This clip shows a quick pan of our 16' by 60' modular layout at the Big Texas Train Show in 2010.
Houston S Gaugers' Layout Drive-thru
This is a video I took with a key-chain camera mounted to a freight car being pushed by the train, running on the Houston S Gaugers' club layout at the February 16, 2013 Greater Houston Train Show in Stafford, Texas. I am still learning how to adjust the white balance on this little camera. I like to take these kinds of experimental videos near the end of the day when the crowds have died down a bit, hence the "quietness".
Houston S Gaugers' Layout Showing Passenger Train
This video was taken at the Mall of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas, where club member Steve's passenger train comes flying by with smoke coming out of its stack.
Houston S Gaugers' Wye Modules Demo
After several weeks of hard work, in a hot garage (just about a week before their public debut), I finalized the basic work of the Houston S Gaugers' club layout modules that form a double-track wye. The modules and the track work were done by Jack Troxell. I took the project over from him to do the wiring (and later the scenery). This video shows a demo of how an engine can go around the entire wye and return back to its original spot. I built some temporary boxes that hold sections of flex track to allow me to test the modules in my garage. It is using the Digitrax DCC system, and I am running my RS-1 chassis (the kit had not been built yet at the time).
Houston S Gaugers' Wye Modules Go Public
A brief video of my NW2 with its freight train going through the Houston S Gaugers' club layout's wye modules. This was the first public appearance of these modules. It was taken at the October 2010 Big Texas Train Show in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

FA-2 Consist On Houston S Gaugers Layout
This is a brief clip of my A-B-A set of American Models FA-2 engines pulling my entire collection of freight cars (at that time). This was taken just days after I received the set, and I had quickly converted the two A-units to DCC using a pair of Digitrax Z-scale decoders (which worked great).
FA-2 Consist On Houston S Gaugers Layout (v2)
Here is another clip of my A-B-A set of American Models FA-2 engines pulling my entire collection of freight cars (at that time). Taken at the 2011 Big Texas Train Show in Houston, TX.
FA-2 Converted to S-CAB
The American Models FA-2 chassis running on my desk. This proves that it runs on battery power! This brief video was taken with the first install, which uses the original American Models motor. I have since replaced the motor with an NWSL motor, which seems to run slightly better.
FA-2 Converted to S-CAB (version 2)
This video shows my American Models FA-2 running through my entire layout (all 20 feet of it!). I had just re-converted it to Neil Stanton's S-CAB DCC again, after it had its motor replaced by an NWSL one. It runs at speed step 3 most of the video, except near the first bridge where I slowed it down to speed step 1. The B- and second A-units are dummies.
NW2 at Speed Step 1
My NW2 converted to S-CAB running at speed step one forwards and back, to demonstrate how slow it can run.
NW2 Chassis with S-CAB
My NW2 chassis running my desktop using just battery power only. My first S-CAB conversion.
RS-1 Going Through The Wye
This clip shows my RS-1 (which I had just completed the previous month) at the Greater Houston Train Show in Stafford, Texas in 2011. It is traveling through the set of wye modules of the Houston S Gaugers club layout.
RS-1 on Houston S Gaugers Layout
Taken at the Memorial Mall Father's Day train show in 2011, this is a brief clip of my RS-1 pulling my entire collection of freight cars (at the time).
PRR Chartiers Branch
The PRR Chartiers Branch First Drive-thru
The white balance was off, but this is the first drive-through video of my layout that I took using the keychain camera, mounted on a gondola being pushed by the NW2.
