2D-F1 archbar, or 2D-F8

These were designed at the same time as the H21 class. Therefore, they have a lot of the same features, and near-identical construction. They were initially intended to be used for coke transport, which included side panels that could be lowered to handle the various for-gondola-designed loading facilities. As those disappeared, all but about 1,500 were rebuilt with fixed side panels, to look and act more like the H21 cars. The old-style bay doors were starting to be replaced with saw-tooth bays in 1926 and conversion was slow. This increased capacity to 2,833cuft. Most cars were eventually converted to H21 class, and all were gone from the roster by 1949.
