The author's retirement layout is a freelance one set in 1938. It follows a folded-dog-bone design, but it is operated as a point-to-point during operating sessions. He covers the layout's construction, how he made his trees (it is a logging railroad), and how he made the harbor scene with water using Golden's "Soft Gel (gloss)".
