The layout is called the Durango, Rico & Northern RR. The L-shaped layout consists of a corner module that contains a wye, and four 5-foot modules, one on the short end of the "L" and three on the long end. Not having enough space at home for a permanent layout, the author build a sectional layout, so that he only has the section in the house that he is currently working with. The other sections are stored in the garage or the purpose-built trailer. He takes the mostly-scratchbuilt 6'x24' layout to local train shows. His 1929-1935 Silverton Central is not modeled after a specific prototype. The simple oval track plan (with only two turnouts) makes it easy to run the layout at a show.
