The G24 class of general-purpose gondolas were composite cars, using steel for the framing and wood for the sides, ends, and floor. They had fixed-ends, and based on the U.S.R.A. design. A total of 750 of these cars were built in 1919.
The cars were ~43 feet long and 10'3" wide. They weighed 40,000 pounds and could carry a load of up to 100,000 pounds. They rode on PRR 2D-F3 trucks, with later photos showing 2D-F8 trucks.
