Peter's Model Railroading | The PRR Chartiers Branch | Equipment
GLc

Description

The GLc class was a true successor to the original GL class. Starting in early 1923, these were GL cars whose underframe was strengthened, as the original cars had a weakness there. All GL cars were converted by 1935. From a modeling perspective, there is no visual difference between these two classes. Since I model 1924, I could potentially have a few of these cars.

Specifications

These are two-bay hoppers that measured 35'5" end sill to end sill, and had an overall width of 10'1-1/2". They weighed 40,000 pounds and could carry a load of up to 100,000 pounds, or a volume of 1,897cuft.
