Peter's Model Railroading | The PRR Chartiers Branch | Equipment
X29

Description

These box cars were of all-steel construction, built from 1924 through 1934, for a total of over 30,000 cars.

Specifications

These cars were 42'3" long and only 8'11" wide and 8'6" tall. This makes them stand out in a sea of box cars as they appear much smaller. They weighed 46,500 pounds and could carry a load of up to 100,000 pounds. They were found with 2D-F1, 2D-F2, and 2D-F8 PRR trucks. As originally built, they came with Creco doors and KD brakes.
