These box cars were constructed out of steel frames with external metal bracing, with wood boards lining up flush with the car's frame. This left the interior clear for maximum storage. They have a door on each side. The PRR kept the vertical brake staff on most of these cars. A total of 9,900 were built starting in 1919.
These cars were the standard 40 feet in length and were 9'3" wide. The cars weighed 47,300 pounds and could carry up to 100,000 pounds in loads. They used the PRR 2D-F3 trucks.
